On Wednesday, the Delafield fire and rescue squad provided a learning opportunity for the school. The visit began in the classroom with the firefighters sharing valuable information in regards to fire safety. Some of this information included calling 9-1-1, stop, drop and roll, throwing an object like a stuffed animal out of your window if you're trapped inside, and the importance of a family meeting place if you need to evacuate. Next, the firefighters demonstrated how they put on all their gear. Finally, they took us outside to walk us through an ambulance and a firetruck. The firefighters shared with us the importance of being able to read and to be active listeners to follow crucial directions! We are grateful to have such generous learning experiences and for the firefighters to make sure we'd all be safe in case of an emergency.
