Amalia's family tradition was going on trips to Anna Maria Island. The tradition began because Amalia talked frequently about wanting to go on a trip to Florida. Eventually, they settled on going to Anna Maria Island because they have family in Tampa and some of their friends have houses on the island. They travel by airplane to Florida and then have an hour car ride to reach their final destination. The island is only 7 miles long so when they visit the island they rent golf carts to get around in. Amalia's mom said, "it's like riding in a little convertible." Amalia, with the help of her mom, shared some other sweet memories. One memory was the time they found a box turtle in the garage and Amalia was holding it. Another memory was from the Sandbar Restaurant where Amalia was selected to ring a bell to announce the time of sunset, which is a special event at the restaurant. Amalia's favorite activity is to visit the beach. She was kind enough to bring a seashell for each of us as part of her presentation. They have spotted dolphins swimming in the ocean! A final memory and special activity while on vacation is going to get ice cream as a family. Amalia's mom brought in ice cream for us to eat to represent Amalia's special trips to ice cream shops on the island.
